Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Madmon, right bank of the Dzhindary River, Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region, basin of the Kashkadarya River. A.I. Kim, Yu.N. Apekkin in 1971 (470, pp. 10-11). Stratotype on Mount Bursykhirman and in the Zinzilban and Hodja-Kurgan sayams.

Synonym: Madmon Suite, Мадмонская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Gray of various shades (from light to dark gray and black) indistinctly bedded and massive reefogenic limestones with horizons of cross-bedded biomorphic, detrital, porphyritic, and microgranular limestones, often to some extent recrystallized. Lens-shaped bodies of reef limestone breccias are present, which are not consistent in extension. Thickness 1000m.

Lower contact

Madmon Fm overlies dolomitized limestones of the Arg Gr

Upper contact

It is overlain by the Hodjakurgan series (Khodzhakurgan Fm); the upper boundary is clearly traced in the Zinzilban sayam.
